The tragic fire occurred in the Mont Blanc Tunnel and the similar accidents that took place in the Saint Gotthard tunnel, Switzerland, and in the Taurus Mountains Tunnel, Austria have drawn the attention of administrative officers and technicians to the issue of tunnel safety.

Two are the basic aims to be achieved:

• protection against fire

• maximum circulation safety

The different interior lining solutions designed and built by TUBOSIDER over the last decade have become a point of reference and comparison even for the norms established by specific international technical commissions.

TUBOSIDER created the linings of major tunnels, selecting the most suitable materials for any specific customer requirement.

Aluminium, fibrocement, glazed steel are applied, according to the different needs, to the walls or to the arch to meet the different requirements: essential fire protection, lighting and acoustic comfort, prevention of dripping phenomena and, last but not least, appropriate architectural fittings of the tunnel and related safety requirements.
